Front Porch Quilts
For almost one year now banging, sawing, screeching, and a whole bunch of heart has gone into the dream that two locals have shared for a long time. Mrs. Carol Dickson and Mrs. Pam Duke are very much a big part of the quilting community and have made one of the biggest contributions someone could. Not everybody has the patience or the time in our economy to build an entire store and stock it with timeless fabrics, notions, patterns, and tools, but patience came and time was made so that their dream would become reality.
The Front Porch Quilts opened this March and has been going strong ever since. They had the successful grand opening Saturday March 28, 2009 and showed off what they have accomplished. "I couldn't wait...I've always said all Knox county needed was a quilt shop...Wew-Hoo!" Benjamin teacher Susan Spake tells all. I even remember driving by every day and seeing how a load of wood can create such an amazing thing and I have to say that it is really something to be proud of.
Mrs.Dickson and Mrs.Duke will begin classes on quilting starting around May. "Kinda like a play date...I guess you could say play-date!" They say that they want people who are eager to learn and will enjoy the process. So make sure that you sign up.
Overall Front Porch Quilts has been a great success and we hope that it will be around for years to come.
